    Description

    "STATION HOSPITAL SAIGON--A NAVY NURSE IN VIETNAM, 1963-1964" is the personal memoir of LCDR Bobbi Hovis (USN Ret), who, along with four other nurses, arrived in Saigon charged with the monumental task of converting. in four days, a dilapidated apartment building into the first U.S. Navy Station hospital in Vietnam. Here are her accounts of the Diem coup, treating wounded soldiers, holidays in Cambodia, visits with General Westmoreland, and much more! LCDR Hovis joined the Navy Nurse Corps in 1947 and was the very first Navy nurse to volunteer for Vietnam duty. She served in Vietnam from September 1963-October 1964. She retired in 1967.
