Here are her accounts of the Diem coup, treating wounded soldiers, holidays in Cambodia, visits with General Westmoreland, and much more! LCDR Hovis joined the Navy Nurse Corps in 1947 and was the very first Navy nurse to volunteer for Vietnam duty. She served in Vietnam from September 1963-October 1964.
