RARE Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise Hair Barrette Clip GORGEOUS!

This listing is for a large vintage Navajo barrette made of sterling silver and gem grade turquoise.
Expertly handcrafted by a Navajo Artist of the mid century this barrette is not an average everyday barrette. This older piece is large, in amazing condition, and absolutely stunning. It features classic Navajo designs over a curved oxidized bed of silver with 4 gorgeous gem grade stones. High polished in fashion, the stones portray deep shades of green to blue green with subtle matrixes running throughout. Each stone slightly protrudes from a straight bezel while being engulfed by raised leaf appliqués, causing a shadowbox effect. Hand poured silver droplets accompany the stones with dainty swirls of silver adding more detail to the piece while the outer edge is finished with a stamped border. Incredible detail on this old piece….truly a fantastic find.
The back of the barrette carries a handmade clasp made from a bent silver rod. The silver rod extends back and forth with ease. Each end has a small rounded droplet where they can be pushed towards each other and pressed down and back out into the clasp. An incredible form of engineering by the unknown Navajo Artist.
The last two photos in the listing show the barrette being worn over a regular hair band/tie. Due to the piece being over 60 grams it will not stay in normal hair….super thick hair may be a different story but, whatever type of hair you may have, this barrette can be worn with hair ties or bobby pins…..it stays clasped very well and looks so beautiful when worn.
