This is a high quality lithograph reproduction concert poster for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Country Joe and the Fish, Strawberry Alarm Clock and Capt Speed in 1967 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. After quitting the opening spot on the Monkees Summer tour after a few shows and scarcely a few weeks after his breakthrough performance at The Monterey Pop Festival, Jimi was riding high on his newfound success here in the US, soon to become an icon in American music. On the same bill were psychedelic pioneers Country Joe and the Strawberry Alarm Clock.
Also of note is the guitar player for Strawberry Alarm Clock was ED KING, later an original guitarist in legendary southern rock band LYNYRD SKYNYRD, rounding out their triple guitar sound with Gary Rossington and Allen Collins. It is telling that the promoter chose to use a photo of the Alarm Clock rather than Jimi or Joe, because they had a chart hit with "Incense and Peppermint" while the others had nothing on the charts at the time ... this even though Jimi Hendrix was the headliner. The point with these posters obviously was to sell tickets. This great photo, including Ed King, is surrounded by nice psychedelic lettering, definitive of the art of the day. This nice reproduction on heavy stock measures approx. 12.5 x 19.25" and is in mint condition. FREE handbills included!
